You get a dedicated Amicable phone number. The other parent texts that number instead of your personal line. Amicable stores their exact message, removes the hostility while keeping every fact and request, and forwards the calm version to your real phone. Your replies go back through the same number and are cleaned on the way out too.
No. That is the whole point. Only you have an account. The other parent just sends a normal text to a phone number. No app, no account, no cooperation required.
The first time they text your Amicable number, they receive a one-time notice that the number is a logged co-parenting relay. Their messages reach you; your replies reach them. They do not see your dashboard, your notes, or the calm rewrites.
Never. The original is stored word for word, time-stamped, and sealed with a cryptographic hash so any change would be detectable. The calm version is a separate, clearly-labeled convenience. Your record always shows exactly what was sent.
Messages that look like a genuine safety threat are shown to you in full, not softened. We never hide a real threat behind a calm paraphrase. Everyday friction and legal talk ("I'll take you to court") is cleaned normally, with the real point preserved.
